THE GREENPRINT SUMMIT RETURNS THURSDAY, JUNE 23

MILLINGTON, TN (June 16, 2016) – On Thursday, June 23rd, the Memphis-Shelby County Office of Sustainability will host the second Bi-Annual Greenprint Summit in partnership with the Greater Memphis Chamber’s Chairman’s Circle and Hyde Family Foundations. The event will take place from 7:30 am to 10:30 am at the Memphis Botanic Gardens (750 Cherry Road, Memphis, TN, 38103) and will highlight regional speakers on their success with green infrastructure (parks, trails, bike lanes) and connect attendees to local leaders who are developing and activating community assets that will result in a higher quality of life for all.

Keynote speakers include:
• Karl Dean, former Mayor of Nashville (2007-2015)
• Ryan Gravel, Sixpitch Founding Principal, and Atlanta BeltLine Visionary
• Laura Morris, former Executive Director, Shelby Farms Park Conservancy (2010-2016)

“Mid-South communities are changing and growing. Investing in green spaces and protecting our parks is critical, now more than ever. This Greenprint Summit will give locals an opportunity to hear from experts on the importance of these investments and the benefits of green spaces for the livability, vitality, and success of our region,” said John Michels, Greenprint Coordinator.

Summit Agenda:
7:30am - 8:00am - Meet and greet w/ light breakfast
8:00am - Welcome by John Michels, Greenprint Coordinator
8:15am - Keynote address with Karl Dean
8:45am - Keynote address with Ryan Gravel
9:15am - Panel Discussion on importance of community engagement in advancing green infrastructure initiatives. Panelists include Karl Dean, Ryan Gravel, and Laura Morris. Moderated by Eric Barnes, Memphis Daily News.
9:45am - Closing remarks
10:00am - 10:30am - Meet the Mid-South's new green advocacy groups.
The Greenprint Summit is made possible by the Greater Memphis Chamber’s Chairman’s Circle and Hyde Family Foundations.

The summit is free and open to the public.
